Practical 6

Do you think it is more effective to search the invisible web (databases) than using search engines, meta-search or subject directories? Why?
if the information in the database is relevant to your research, then i think is useful .although searching on invisible web is accurate , it may not return the relevant search result. An example is ITPRO. if i use it for my research topic , it will only return information on computer animation and flash as ITPRO focus on IT topics.

Will you use the invisible web (databases) for research in your own respective Diplomas? Why?
Yes. because  the resource is accurate and trustworthy , it cut down time to check whether the information is accurate or not.

What have you learnt from your wiki experience during this practical?
i have to learn to work with people that i do not know. it is not easy as you do not know the person and what is his/her style of doing things. so i think it needs more effort to work together as compared to working with your friends.

Sharing my research findings at EIR class wiki

I started to share my research topic and update it on EIR subject wiki at www.eir-rawkz.wetpaint.com.
My research topic is "the trends and developments on animation industry in Japan"  which i think is a challenging topic as i need to talk about trends of Japanese animation and the development of Japanese animation. i chose this topic as i like Japanese animation.

after updating my research on the wiki, i find it is good to share what you know to the community.because it shows the effort you have put in your research.

Practical 3

I was impressed with Google search engine because Google has some features which are interesting , an example is the I'm feeling lucky button. it takes you to the first search result that you search for.sometimes it will give you a hilarious result that is not what you wanted. it also have more relevant search results as compared to other search engines.

i like to participate in forums because i get to learn something from other people in the forum. which is sometimes quite useful for research . i do feel anxious when i  participate in forums because you do not know who the person you talking to and what is their reaction to my post in the forum

Citation and bibilography must be done so that when some one comments on topics from the forum they will be able to look into further informations. Thus, the link that i include in bibilography will definitely help them in some sense.

Virtual Shopping Spree on Second Life (E-learning Activity)

Comparing shopping with second life and online e-shopping, i find that shopping online is better as online shopping sites has more descriptions of the product compared to just short descriptions and pictures in second life. secondly ,  you need to navigate around the shopping  site/lsland to find stuff you want to buy.i find it more troublesome compared to clicking link in a website.

i have learn to depend on myself through this e- learning experience.

the most challenging experience i have was to find out how to navigate around second life and finding out how to go to different places. As the world in second life is huge, i need to explore the place before going to the place i wanted to go.
